Key Responsibilities:

  • Enable bulk data exports and follow through to ensure high fidelity presentation of our data on the International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium’s website.
  • Design and implement quality control and quality assurance procedures to confirm the accuracy, fidelity and completeness of data and to implement bulk data corrections as needed.
  • Troubleshoot uploading and downloading of data.
  • Query databases, generate reports and assist with visualization and statistical analysis of data.
  • Initiate, maintain and develop relationships with key stakeholder groups, such as software developers, biostatisticians and informaticians, within JAX and IMPC.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in computer science or computational science-related field (e.g. bioinformatics, physics or mathematics) and at least six years of appropriate experience relative to this position.
  • Broad experience in the use of SQL programming of relational databases and knowledge of the following areas: data management, curation, migration and maintenance.
  • Experience using a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Programming proficiency and experience with some of the relevant software tools such as:

SQL for data queries RESTful API implementation (e.g. C/C++, Python, JAVA, C#) Data visualization and reporting tools that can be used for quality control and project monitoring activities (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, R/ggplot2, Prism) Bioinformatics tools that allow data mining and interpretation (e.g. Ensembl, UCSC Genome Browser, PhenoDigm, Ingenuity Pathway Analysis)

  • Proven ability to analyze and synthesize information, and demonstrated resourcefulness in finding appropriate solutions to problems and initiative in presenting alternatives and implementing solutions to ensure effective change and/or eliminate or mitigate potential negative effects.
  • Exceptional organizational and project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, track and successfully carry out multiple projects at the same time to successful conclusion with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated positive attitude and professional manner in all interactions; demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Quality orientated including delivering accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to work in a team and lead technical aspects of a team.
