Additional core responsibilities include assessment of data inventories, analyses of various data streams, and utilization of large data sets to determine unique insights to further business needs.

The candidate will find innovative ways to combine fields of data that don’t naturally mesh together as well as conduct exploratory data analysis in order to navigate a dataset and come out with conclusions based on certain assumptions.

The ideal candidate will support their department in transforming data as a key input in solving challenging real-world problems.

By using available data and information, the Data Science Analyst will help the City become smarter, more efficient and effective in delivering services and programs to constituents.

Essential Functions
1.

Work as a departmental advisor on the entire data lifecycle – from data acquisition, quality control, processing, analysis, to visualization.

2.

Contribute to all stages of data science and decision modeling projects, including problem formulation to solution development, that answer business questions, solve business needs, add business value and aid city staff to make informed strategic decisions.

3.

Identify opportunities for leveraging data to drive program, service and department solutions.

4.

Develop mechanisms to ingest, analyze, validate, normalize, and clean data.

5.

Use unstructured data and data mining techniques to extract valuable information.

6.

Retrieve and combine data from databases, websites, department systems, etc.

7.

Develop tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracy.

8.

Collaborate with partners to produce and communicate insights to various levels of leadership.
