Job Summary:-
The Sales Specialist will have experience in selling analytical (CE-SDS, chromatography, mass spec) instrumentation/solutions to solve customer problems.
Ability to prospect, develop new business, and new customer contacts/relationships is expected.
Consultative selling should be a natural approach of this seasoned sales member to ensure value proposition is specific to customer needs.
The role is expected to cover the NJ, NY, MD, DC territory for life sciences accounts primarily including pharma/biopharma accounts.
The Sales Specialist will be responsible for mapping the accounts in the sales territory to understand market potential and use a methodical approach to penetrate accounts.
Work with internal resources to bring customer relevant marketing tactics, and scientific presentations to help build leads and opportunities.
Adequate scientific depth to understand customer relevant problems and to prescribe appropriate solutions is expected.
Technical Proficiency
Technical Proficiency with Analytical platforms
Strong understanding of the drug discovery and development process
Ability to demonstrate products to customers
Ability to assist in assay optimization and train new customers on relevant PerkinElmer Systems
Expected to keep up to date with new products and applications for therapeutic development
Capable of discussing therapeutic discovery applications with researchers in assigned accounts
Engage with customers in a consultative manner
Continually make existing and new customers aware of new product initiatives
Territory Management
Actively meet new customers within assigned accounts on a daily basis
Manage time in an effective manner, balancing maintenance of existing business relationships with cultivation of new business
Bi-weekly Business Reviews with Regional Manager
Ability to project and maintain an accurate territory forecast
Build long-term account strategies for growing business within the territory
Build positive relationships with key opinion leaders
Map relevant departmental structure at assigned accounts and gain access to decision makers
Cultivate relationships with key decision makers, influencers, operations, procurement
Manage expense account on a monthly basis
