CitiStat Internship
- Intern Assignment Description: You will get the opportunity to help implement this evolving program. Your main responsibilities will be to:
1) Produce memorandums for the Mayor’s top staff after analyzing monthly data for city departments.
2) Follow-up with city departments on action items developed through the meetings.
3) Refine key performance indicators and data entry procedures with city departments.
4) Co-create a quick-look dashboard with IT staff to track changes in the data.

The right candidate(s) selected for this unique internship will have the advantage of working closely with senior municipal leadership, including department directors, the city business administrator, and the office of the mayor. The experience from this internship would not only allow for the development of skills for future career advancement with the city of Atlantic City, but valuable skills that could be transferred to any local or other governmental agency.
Additionally, interns can expect mentorship opportunities to support their professional growth. Intern interactions with senior municipal leadership from all department including the business manager’s office and mayor’s office, will be both frequent and with direct access.

Typical Qualifications

You must possess:
1) Strong social skills to work with people in a variety of positions across the city.
2) Strong quantitative skills to analyze data
3) Strong writing skills to produce readable and substantive policy memos.
4) Strong project management skills to oversee an assignment with multiple moving parts and players.
5) Competence with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to analyze data and produce graphs and other visuals.
We are seeking two graduate students to work 10-20 hours a week primarily from City Hall. Previous experience working in municipal government is preferred but not required.
Compensation: This internship is Non-Paid.
