Job description

We are seeking an Analyst to join our Data Analytics and Solutions team in the Model Development group. The team focuses on modeling and developing products related to insured property exposures and loss curves, data and analytics related applications and solutions. Such products are an important part of RMS product line and provide a wealth of valuable information for our clients.

The candidate will be working in a multidisciplinary environment with other catastrophe data and risk modelers across different time zones (California, London, and India) and would be engaged in the development, design and implementation of a wide range of products used in catastrophe risk modeling, and Property & Casualty data quality assessment and enhancement. The candidate will be expected to gain and further utilize an in-depth knowledge of the products and relevant technologies. Skills in numerical / statistical analysis / Operational Research, computing, databases, automation etc. would add value. The incumbent of this role will be primarily responsible for:

  • Researching and mining socio-economic and engineering information related to insured properties mainly in different countries.
  • Research the current market for similar products and compare results
  • Executing analytics of exposure data provided by our clients, and benchmarking RMS data products against such data.
  • Acquiring data from structured, semi-structured and unstructured data sources
  • Interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Identifying and defining new processes, improvement opportunities and quality improvement areas.
  • Presenting findings, preparing technical reports, and making suitable recommendations.
  • Writing specifications for process automation.
  • Presenting product reviews and communicating quantitative and qualitative findings to development teams based on test results.
  • Ensuring that the final product satisfies the requirements and end-user expectations

Mandatory:

  • / Postgraduate in field of Civil Engineering, Data Science, Computer Sciences, Operations Research, Geo Informatics, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, and Statistics would be preferred
  • 1+ year of working experience as Data Analyst
  • Strong knowledge of MS SQL should be able to write complex queries and should have strong analytical, database and data manipulation skills.
  • Basic knowledge of Python or R
  • Adept at queries, report writing and presenting findings
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong documentation skills with experience on MS Word, PowerPoint, MS Excel
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-driven, independent, detail oriented, innovative, quick learner, critical thinker, and a team player.

Preferable (Not Mandatory):

  • Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
  • Knowledge or experience in Property Insurance or Reinsurance sector
  • Experience in data mining, statistical modelling, or catastrophe modeling domain
  • Knowledge of ETL tools like SSIS
